I get about a 50% straightening out verses breaking off when dock shooting. To me the better hook ups and hook placement outweigh loosing a few jig heads.

To see the difference in sickle and regular hooks, you can stick your finger in a bag of regular hooks, wiggle it around and pull it out, no problem.
put your finger in a bag of sickle hooks, wiggle it around and you will pull it out with hooks stuck all in your finger. LOL They are that sharp.

Isnt that a factor of how sharp the hook is vs the sickle shape? Id bet youd get a ton of hooks stuck to your fingers if you stuck them in a bag of trokar hooks too. (of course I dont know if they make 4-1 size trokar hooks)

They're crappie...papermouths! You can catch them on a dull paper clip. I've been using Eagle claw Aberdeen's all my life...I've caught more than I missed.

    Update...
I bought a package of these to try them out and found them to be not as forgiving in keeping the hook in the crappie mouth when fishing with minnows. I used six rods each with a sickle hook and during a 4 hour fishing spell I lost or mis-set the hook on them about 4-5 times. More than I usually do with gold Aberdeen #2 hooks. Still good hooks and sharp. I'm just not sold yet. I will try one more time but right now I will stick with the sickle hooks on the jigs for now.

I checked out gold Aberdeen #2 hooks today. They looked huge. The shank seemed too long.

Ha! #2 looks tiny to me.... We fish 1/0 and 2/0 down here most of the time.
