Don, this is a great picture. It would be hard hard to find anything wrong with it.When I made post#33 I thinking of other posts that I've read from time to time and it all seamed humorous to me.its obvious that unit works great and I've enjoyed this thread but I have got off track and I'm sorry for that.

GUYS, FIRST OF ALL ,THE CRAPPIES ON RIGHT SIDE IS OVER LAP OF THE SAME FISH ON LEFT SIDE BUT ONLY NEAR TO UNDER BOAT ,STILL ON LEFT SIDE THOUGH. CP,THE FISH THAT LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE ON TOP OF POST ARE IN FRONT OF POST A LITTLE CLOSER THAN THE POST IS.IT IS SINDING A SLICE SINGAL THAT IS A LITTLE LESS THAN 90 DEGREES AND THAT IS THE DISTANT THE DEUCER IS AWAY FROM THE POLE AND THE ONLY WAY THE UNIT CAN SHOW IT AS THAT FAR FROM DUCER ,YOUR DI WILL DO THE SAME,IF MY 998 HAD WENT THE SAME TRAIL AND SHOOT A FULL 90 DEGREES IT WOULD HAVE SHOWED NEAR ABOUT THE SAME AND THAT IS WHY WE GO OVER BRUSH AND SAY IT IS 20 FEET DEEP THEN SIT ON IT AND ONLY 5 FEET FROM TOP,YOU MUST BE STRAIGHT OVER A OBJECT TO TELL HOW HIGH IT IS IN WATER.

See if this helps guys ...Let's leave the fish out of the scenario and just focus on the vertical dock post structure ...

Don .. May I use your screenshot as a Sonar quiz entry ...??

Even tho we've already discussed it here ... I think it would be a good addition to the quiz sticky that Catfan is creating for us ...

So, if the boat had been very close to the post, the post image would have been almost at the top of the image.

So, if the boat had been very close to the post, the post image (in the SI view) would have been almost (to the centerline) of the image.

Because "Distance A" is the distance from the xducer to the point where the SI pulse 1st contacts the reflective post...
