It turns out I've seen a "gaspergoo" up close and personal then. We fished Lake Eerie earlier this year for walleye and my fishing buddy caught a freshwater drum there. Huh, small world.

I'm guessing you mean other "targeted" species and not surprise bycatch. In that case it would be Smallmouth (acrobats) and 'Gill. I catch a little of everything from time to time, even Warmouth on crankbaits. Go figure.

If it's caught from Erie, it's called a sheephead. Anywhere south of the mason-dixon line, it's a gaspergoo. Same fish, just diffrent names for diffrent parts of the country. Like crappie/ croppie/ specks/ sacs. The name changes the farther south you get.

Here when fishing for crappie we also catch catfish, Black bass, yellow bass, Gaspergoo, white bass, blue gills, goggle eyes and other kinds of Bream! Also the yellow bass here are small enough to not have enough red in them to worry about taking out and they eat really good! Also I am a picky fish eater and if they taste fishy I am not eating them!

we especially catch all these sometimes in the same general spot when spoon jigging! Usually this is in 30' of water or something close to that!
