Yellow bass. Can't stand em. Once they start biting, there's nothing to do but move to a different spot.
In SC it is most likely the White Perch. They have crowded out the White Bass and DNR has declassified them as game fish in hopes of reducing their numbers. It is hard to fish with minnow in some of our lakes without catching a boat load of these things before a crappie can get to the bait.

Up here in the northeast, we catch: (in order of highest to lowest frequency)
Bluegills....yellow perch....white perch....lm bass....northern pike....bullhead.

Yellow Bass (Yellow Bellies) are lots smaller than White Bass.
