Well you need to plan ahead...waaay ahead if you are going to one of the camps down south. Campground/cabin rental needs to be made as much as 8 months in advance, sometimes even sooner depending on the lake. I think I heard the boys down there saying that the cabins at Cossar State Park for next year are already all booked, and that wasn't for a C.com event. If you are looking to travel with others, then you need to coordinate all of that. In my mind, the biggest thing is to keep in touch with the state forums so you know where/when the camps are being held, and get reservations made as soon as possible. You will generally forfeit a modest sum if you have to cancel also. There is a "sticky" at the top of the state forums page that lists the upcoming camps that is a good way of staying on top of the camps too. Obviously, you don't want to plan a trip like that and not make sure your equipment is in good shape...that can put a big damper on the fun. I agonize over issues with the fifth wheel/truck/boat/etc. even after I've done all my homework. Knock on wood we didn't have a single mechanical issue this trip...the bigger issue was finding legal fish.

I think you just do what "Slab" did... let Don make all the plans
Or.... if Slab made the plans then do what Don did.

Personally, the next trip I want to go on, I'm just hitching a ride with those two

Same here Gobob! Perhaps I'll make it down to one of the Illini camps soon.

Great reports Don. Thanks for keeping us all up to date on your trip.
It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D
