Hi folks new guy to the board from CA,my name is Dale and have lived in Riverside for the past 30yrs and grew up in Orange County.
Do most all my fishing out on the Colorado River mostly fishing for flathead catfish... Just in the past year bought a place in Topock/Golden Shores AZ and try to make the drive out twice a month, as some may know next to town is the Topock Marsh which is a backwater of some 5000 acres of the Colorado river.. the marsh hold a good population of crappie, catfish, gills(bait), red ears, bass and all the mosquito's you can take home,. Would say 90% of the marsh is less then 4' with the deepest of 10 or 12 feet being a old river/wash channel that runs the west shore for 2/3s it length,
Not done any crappie fishing for over 40 years, did some back in the 50s and 60s on Lake Havasu under the lights off the end of the Black Meadow Landings boat dock,, use to get stringers full of big slabs,, always used minnows for bait, so real green when it comes to lures and the like,, some of the locals on the marsh use feeder goldfish for bait which is legal out on the river,, makes for cheep bait at 15 cents each,,
Hope to learn a lot from around here and hope to be posting of catches out there be it crappie or some big cat
Well headed out to the Ol river tonight for the long weekend,, was thinking of do the dove hunt but think the birds took off for Mexico with all the storms out there and the big cool down,, not going to get much over a 100* after being in the mid teens since the end of June,, was down there the last week of June was 124*
Anyways see ya all around and fish on

Hey RiverBud, Welcome. I lived in Pico Rivera when I was real young and Northern CA for many years. I never heard of Picacho SP. So I had to look it up. No wonder you're almost out of CA... and if I ever got down that far I always thought I took a wrong turn somewhere. haha. Looks great though. It that where the big cat was caught? Most of my fishing in CA was Shasta, Whiskey Town , Sacramento River and Delta and the Pacific Ocean of course.

Awesome pics! I have fished the canals and backwters around blythe on down south of the 10, as well as areas around Westmoreland. caught talapia and gills for bait, and enjoy the night! Oh yeah, and don't forget that mosquito repellent.
Where are you in the boat launch pic?
