    Smile Alder Lake

Well, I was bound and determined to find the crappie in Alder Lake and luckily just as I started my vacation I found em. Once I got em figured out it was too easy. With this lake there just wasnt a lot of info as far as anyone consistently catching them and thought for sure if I was gonna get some nice fish was gonna have to travel to eastern part of the state. Used to a limit of crappie keeping 15 and nothing less than 9 inches. My average was an easy between 10 and 11 inches with several between 11 and 12 and the biggest at 14. The kids really enjoyed catching em but got a little frustrated over only keeping 15 each trip. All in all Alder does have some nice crappie but think we gonna give it a break and do a little bass fishing. Started my vacation on the 12th and been bringing home my limit every time out. Went out 3 to 4 times a week and vacation about over. Wishing everyone tight lines Name: 1150985_4945475248562_10472303_n.jpg

Actually several spots from the middle to the back half. I'm thinking of searching closer to the dam considering people have caught them there. I still think I haven't found the mother load as far as really big fat crappie.

I have never actually fished that lake. We used to camp down there a lot years ago before we had a boat. I don't know if I have ever actually seen a boat out in the water but it sure is a beautiful lake.

I'll have to give Alder a try. The most important key to Crappie Fishing is to never give up on CRAPPIE fishing!! Nice fish BA...

Went last Saturday to Alder and hadn't been there for a few weeks before that. The fish were a little tougher to find and thinking they are moving into their fall pattern. Getting ready to go to the field for a month so not sure when they will actually move to their winter pattern. I ended up with 10 nice crappie and if I would have stuck it out think I could have got my limit. Not looking forward to the weather change. keep hearing that during winter they drop the lake way down so should be interesting to see how that affects the fishing.

We made it down to Alder yesterday afternoon. First time on the lake so I spent about 4.5 hours side scanning, down scanning, and marking GPS waypoints. There is so much structure in the lake that I only spent about 45 mins total fishing. Really nice lake for sure. The lake has turn over already. Fish where using the entire water column from 5 feet down to around 36 or so in the main channels. Water level is dropping at the same time as well. Most of the baitfish have moved back into the last 1/3 of the creek arms and the bass and trout where feeding on them pretty heavy. I followed all of the old road beds, railroads, and three creek channels marking all of it as I found holding areas. Got skunked on the crappie but I'll be back once the Fall weather settles in and they start schooling. Marked some really nice bends in two of the creek channels that should hold them in a few weeks.

Also spent some time out on the main lake looking for wintering holes and found a nice one! The old railroad bridge has a creek bed under it at 42-45'. I'll be there waiting for them when they work back down the creek this winter. It was loaded with fish....but they where all Kokes. Hooked a bunch of them looking for the slabs. Gonna have to wait for the fish to move deep and check it again. Also found a nice road that has cement guard rails and grass on both sides. Looked like a good spot to check during pre-spawn.

Went to Alder Lake Saturday for the first time. Beautiful lake for sure. At the dock people were pulling in Kokes left and right using corn. We were searching for Bass and Crappie, but without a FF we had no luck. My buddy did catch a really small Walleye though. That was pretty cool, cuz I've never seen or caught one. We fished the east side of the lake. With the sun out I figured fish would be shallower to get to warmer water, but no luck. I was using spinnerbaits, deep divers, drop shot, T rig plastics for Bass. Black/chart, chart/red jigs for Crappie, but unfortunately no luck. We will surely be going out there again though!!

Well just got back from spending 6 weeks out at Yakima doing some field training. Hopefully gonna be hitting up Alder and see if I cant track down them crappie. Might not get to hit the lake till this next weekend but really looking forward to see if I can get em figured out. The weather is definitely different for this time of year than what im used to but hopefully I can make it work in my favor. Wishing everyone tight lines and hope to be posting some nice pics
