Wonder what the odds are of running into a beady-eyed sucker wearing a choo choo cap in a boat fulla trolling motors fishing all my favorite spots?
Gonna have to fit the spar onto the bow of The Onion and tear him a new one if he's trespessing again.
Hmm what do I have green for St Pattys Day tomorrow? Oh yeah.......:D
Now lemme go hunt down the wild & elusive Poaching Corker.

All I can tell you is it was good, very good. Ol lady home from work and this is her net time, will post later rather than go to fisticuffs with her. Caught around 30-40 fer sure, buggest 14.5. Drop comin off the creeks into main basin. Had minnows but jigs did better.
Very few dinks and them close to fish stretcher size if a dude was hungry.

Gibby I was just talkin to someone about this very thing. Being self-employed has its benefits but man, honest Abe, even I dont know I'm going fishin till opportunity provides and today was a classic example. I woke up thinkin dang I gotta switch over what is riding in the back of my truck to horseshoeing mode. Well I did 2 early but had a cancellation due to colic/vet. Jumped on it. Other than the fact I cant stand you, and Dew says you go both ways, no reason I would not have said hey man come on down.:D:D

Word has it you can not only be guided by the best this area has to offer, which will no doubt make some guffaw and fishdoc downright go on a pukin frenzy, but you can now call my ol lady, be disrespectful toward her and the whole camp here, but I will have to listen to the grunts & groans from an adjoining room with Boudreaux. This is what you git fer havin friends. :p

Ok, ok. I get it. I have offered some of these folks over & over, and they all act like I have Hep C. You tell me yur schedule when you are not involved with someone else's ol lady and you can not only come here and be taken fishing, but I will make an exception and try make sure we catch sumfin.

That damn "one hit wonder" line on the NW while Panphysher was trying to determine just what we were BBQ'n still tickles my innards.:D The nonchalance with which Mike said it was a classic. You are really most welcome to make a 2 dayer of it coming this far. Dont even think of hype- you can crap in the stool, wash the fungi off ya, and make me breakfast and do dishes. I'll lock the doggs up and try keep my ol lady off ya. Dont fool yurself young buck, she may be 57 but I seen for myself how she can collapse a 3/4" garden hose if you stick yur finger over the open end and give her enuf time you picky bich you.

You keep avoiding me over the deathmatch cage. My batteries have been in as sad a state as Berdmans used to be, for different reasons. His ol lady ran em down on a multi-daily basis. These just went kaputt. Corknibbler told me to put em (the batteries up against my left nipple and the warmth would revamp em. I squeezed 2 pics outta of em.

Ok ok. I fished for about 4 hrs, caught I know a limit and then some, probly 35 would be close. Biggest was 14.5 the only one I put to the tape, but hardly any under 10 and alotta 12 & 13s.

I tried some brush sunk in 11-13 ft straight off the ramp, I will be glad to share this with anyone. Easy to find just by triangulation. Nuthin. All fish were caught in 11-14 ft of water on drops coming outta the creeks into the main basin. For once it was textbook and I take back all I have said about reading stereotype situations in Crappie World. Even more fulfilling was having the feeling I knew where they should be and damned if they werent. I threw out buoys and as Shellquacker stated, " sounds like they were glued together." I have a $69 Here Fishy Fishy 100 and aint got the smarts to interpret what limited stuff it is no doubt capable of showing but even on my PlaySkool it looked like a ball of bait it was so confined. Bottom line is you were either in the strike zone or the water was sterile. I had minnows with and although caught my first couple on jigs, used them with a slip float to try establish depth, I dint use but 2 or 3 minnows and then just went to jigs. Plain skirts did well, I cant say any color shone, but then I went to slow-trolling (very slow), and them Sliders took the vast majority. That paddle tail has it going. I have some John Deere Sliders that are split lengthwise, one side yellow, one side green, running the length of the bait. They ruled. Of all the fish I caught only maybe 4 or 5 were marginal and 10" is my cut-off to keep.

Wait it gets better and this is the part I am kinda mystified about but dang, what a nice finding. I have a dirty secret. I have never gone seriously hungry in my life and have always thought I am right in there in sportsmanlike ways when it comes to taking game, making use of it, and I have never violated a game law by size or possession. I have that hunter/gatherer instinct and never could NOT take a fish home if it was decent size and a species I find yummy. I been here in VA 6 yrs, fished all my life, but in just the l;ast 3 or 4 yrs I have finally figgered out what catch & release is all about. I mean I had to take all them puppies home and I seen where you posted Tap about folks who leave the water with all they can legally keep, and then some, only to feed the neighbors, and their cats if the neighbors weren't enuf. I told Les tonight there was no weirder feeling than turning loose my 1st ever released slab right here under the 1st bridge at Di9ascund. The 2nd one came easier, and as the concept became easier to me, I felt much better about myself fishing. Now dont get me wrong, I am no bleeding heart, and if you come to the House of Shoe and aint no fish to be had to eat in the freezer, well, I dont know cuz that just dont happen. I went there today fully planning to not only catch fish but stock the larder. Had my 1st one in hand and a 12"er
and even had brought ice and a cooler. I unhooked her and eggs were dribblin out. No, I dint cry, and I think 3 fat females can populate a lake so long as conditions are right for the fry to thrive, I have no qualms at all about keeping 25 fat egg laying females and I dont think it will harm (and possibly prosper) the fishery.
I just tossed her back, and had my take right there that I was not going to keep any. I may go tomorrow (in theory), and want to keep a bunch to eat, and wont lose no sleep in doing so.

Heres last night Bowl-A-Beans. I almost achieved liftoff today and could not help but wish PanMan was there to join in the festivities. The Onion had a rumbleseat going on today. I may have called them fish up. Sedge, who'd a thought that one day you'd be packin yur diapers before sammiches?
No wonder my Here Fishy Fishy 100 was giving me an infrared readout.
