    Default Chick Lake 5/8/14

Hit Chick lake this AM. Fished for 3 hours and caught 25. Half on minnows and half on Kalins lemon merangue and BGBS blue ice jigs. Fish were in 8-10 FOW and about halfway down on wood cover and duck blinds, cypress knees etc...They were biting pretty good, but I could only fish a half day. Incidentally, George Allen, the guy that ran the boat and bait store passed away suddenly on Sunday. I saw the obituary yesterday. The family is trying to keep the restaurant and bait shop open...so prayers to them.

These were two of my better fish. 13 and 12". Half (13) of the 25 were keepers.

Uh Oh! I can't believe you are fishing that spot! Do you know who that belongs too? Nice fish. Congrats.

Heycharlie...I'm ready for saltwater. Still mulling your 12' rods over...will let you know. Not sure who this spot belongs to, but I have seen a lot of people fish it and there is some funky stuff on the sonar. Ironically, I picked up the fewest amount of fish at that spot.

So sad to hear that. He was only 38. I chatted with him a handful of times, seemed like a real great guy to me, we laughed that we were both George's.

Dropped bassboat in today, was going to look for some skinny water pups but starting batt went bad. While running along, one transducer broke loose and was flopping into and out of back of boat. At same time, I was pushing power on and off trying to get DF to read... Took a minute to put 2 and 2 together.. I just ran boat 2 weeks ago!
Got it running late in the day,, Man its a big diff between that and my CC.. my CC does 35/37 at best.. small boat was 54 -60! fishing is getting ready to bust loose around here!
