Started to get the itch this a.m.; called livery at LCR for an ice report; response: "ice is all over the place (wait for a better day.)"

had previousaly scheduled some work on the boat, but leavin Wed AM for 3 or 4 days at Buggs. We havin the ICEBOWL Catfish contest at Occ. Sat. NC vs VA for biggest Catfish honors. had 115 participants last yr, winner was VA, he got bout $900 if I member correctly. I think they paid 6 or 7 places. I had the biggest for NC with a 24lber. hope my 61 pounder is still close to where we turned her loose w/e for last....

Dalton, being wise with age, I elected not to go to the Chick today with a young whipper snapper of 50. Well I called him at 4:40 PM. Here's his report...One f#%%@! bass and that's it. Seven other boats out on the river and I have not seen but 3 ring perch caught all day. Two of the boats gave me their one perch catch. They were nice size. The river was iced in this morning until 10 AM.

Guess I'll stick close to the "home" tommorrow young man.

Do you think that the tidal conditions were not quite right (High tide was at 5:37am with low tide at 11:52am.) and the water temp was too cold? I'm leaning towards going there Saturday with hopes that the water temp will be up a bit and high tide is at 10:12am.
