40 crappie, 8 were 1lb+
Met up with Bennett at Western Branch and managed to catch a few. I marked a school with my side imaging, dropped a marker and minutes later Bennett had this 14.5"er.
Sorry that my camera zoom sucks. He also was proud of his catfish crappie combo.
Here's one of my bigger ones for the day.
We did best fishing 17' deep on the channel edge. As always, the crappie were roaming and very difficult to stay on. Bennett caught a smorgasboard of fish while I focused on crappie. :D
I found numerous schools of fish and bait fish. Here's neat snapshop with side imaging and down imaging of a school of what I believe are baitfish that I went directly over. (no wonder the crappie are roaming this channel)
The gar are starting to move to their winter home, notice how much bigger their specs are as well as their shadows.
Trivia question. When does 3lbs equal 1lb 6oz? Bennett has the answer. :D

Great post, glad you got into them. We were at WB and started at the pumphouse in 30' then ran back to the BM dam and did the bridge and tight lined all the way back drifting back over the channel off and on. I wish that channel would hold still, it just moves to much.
Found fish around the bait balls in several areas, always in the channel. I need to carry the rule book as I forgot the rules on strippers?? We did not keep any fish. Got to run the NW, the wind is calm, so far today.
PS tested out new motor (used) 16.1 mph carrying 2 fat men and the kitchen sink. Not bad for a 22 year old 9.9. Cuts off at idle so I will rebuild the carb. or just clean it out.
