    Default Chick Lake worms

Ron said one of the fish he kept was eat up with small worms. The rest were ok. I didn't see any in the fish I clean. Bennett what was that you saw on one of the fish you caught? Anyone else see anything.

seen this several times and think it is mostly tidal waters that get birds causing this as what is recycled in the food chain...lake only seperated by the dam and therefore once again birds...

None in ours. The lake has a decent shellcracker population. They eat the snails which are a vector in the life cycle of the parasitic worms. I know the river fish are more likely to contain worms. Don't know about the cracker population in the river.

A few of the lake crappie have worms. A lot of the river fish have worms. Just cut the worms out of the meat and cook the fish well.

Thanks for the insight, Les. The birds move from one body of water to another - spreading the parasites. I didn't understand the connection with shellcrackers, but that explains why I almost never find worms in fish from Diascund and LCR. When Walkers Dam was out, the "lake" fish became river fish & the worm count shot way up. Now, it's moving back down in line with the other two lakes.

just cleaned fish from yesterday (James river breed) 76 filets 6 worms 2 worms 2 fish 1 worm two other fish.....lots of roe in the beginning stages 3-1gallon zip locks full 1 for me and 1 for my partner yesterday and divide the other up into 2 bags 1 for the lady who owns pond at end of road and 1 for elderly couple few doors down...all worms were in the gut cavity area around the ribs wich are cut out anyhow....so those of you who dont fish the river with good results dont make worms your reasoning point:p
