Thank you Ranger. We'd like to thank Panman for telling everyone about the area at breakfast. Alot of boats never fished the lake before and it seemed quite a few began in the area along with Ron and I. Next special thanks to Ranger. He had passed over the brush marking fish but didn't get a hit and Dayton pointed it out to us. Ron and I began the day pulling corks. I ran the trolling motor at a very low rate trying to keep the minnows down near the bottom and pausing every now and then to get them back down near the bottom. We had picked up a few no keepers using this method which is not the way Ron and I usually fish. When Dayton said to go try the brush pile he just passed over marking fish the game was over. Ron and I specialize on Buggs brush piles and to put us on brush with fish is like playing Russian Rulet with a fully loaded gun. I feel the lesson learn is sometimes they prefer a vertical presentation and not a moving one. If you mark brush and pass over it with no takers mark it and go back to it and just hold over it. We had 44 in the live well with a couple being about 8". Most 9" and up. As Ranger said the winner was 1.6 and 13.25 in length. Now Dayton said he has action pictures of Ron and I catching fish so let me explain the way I set a hook before he post them. We fish alot of brush in 18 to 20 foot of water so when I set a hook I set a hook. I make sure I get all the stretch out of the line to drive it home. This is a habit from my salt water days fishing flounder in 35' of water. In closing we want to thank Jeff for having the gang over for breakfast and for Dayton and Brad helping to put it on. One last thing, that was really the best bash I've ever attended. Not because I won but the last hour of fish when all the boats got together in a small group and just fished the same area all together. That was great.
