WTG Peckerwood, that's a dandy
Here's a shot of the monster crappie taken from Pickett Reservoir last week. By the time the picture was taken, the fish had been frozen. The angler is known to his friends as "Woodpecker" Taylor. Reportedly, when he caught this 19", 3 lb. 11 oz super-slab, he didn't realize that it ranks in the top 2% of all crappie citations issued since the VA program began in the mid-60's! His friends are still trying to talk him into registering the citation!
Based on the color pattern, it looks like a black crappie.

Nice crappie Woodpecker! I guess he froze it so that he can get it mounted?

Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
Thanks for posting the picture, Corker. Appears to be a white. Better get there earlier from now on, that little parking lot is gonna be full for a while!

If you stare at it you can see the stripes. I "think" I see about 7? Also the spot on the gill plate. Can't count the spines the way the dorsal fin is laid down. The distance from the eye to the dorsal fin looks more than the base of the dorsal fin. My bet is that it's a white: White crappie (Pomoxis annularis): the distance from the eye to the front of the dorsal fin base is GREATER than the base of the dorsal fin. I'd like to have one of each that size! There are no pronounced vertical stripes

Woodpecker!, he looks more like a "Wingnut" to me. He can look anyway he wants with a fish that size. WTG
