Hello all, I live in Longview and like to fish LOP and Murvaul. I'm fairly new to crappie fishing, having fished for bass and cats all my life. I appreciate all who post here as I have learned a lot from lurking for the past couple of months.

    Thanks

You are a little North of me, but would love to fish LOP at some point. However I already have enough water to fish without ever fishing all of this lake. I keep my area so the bottom 15-20 miles of the lake and that is more than one can use actually.

I got to fish Murvaul Tuesday evening for about 3 hrs. and caught a lot of crappie. Most were very small but I did manage 12 keepers including 2 15 in white crappie.

Skip, I got to fish T-Bend twice this year in March and got to catch some of the shallow fish on a jig and cork, a first for me.

    Thanks

    Jrc

Good for you and remember that next spring as our grass beds are still trying to come back. We lost al our Hydrilla about 4 years ago and that made a big difference on catching crappie the easy way. The easy way is long line troll over and around that grass. The jig & Cork is also good and we do have a good number of pretty big crappie here. This is the first year I didn't catch at least one 17" or over since I moved here.

I think the very best part of the lake for fishing is the next arm North of me here at 6 mile. Housen is a great place to fish and there is a re-done Fin & Feather Lodge right on Housen with a pretty fair restaurant too. This part of the lake is just below where it gets wide. I fished out of there for a very long time from when the lake opened (late 60's) until I moved here and didn't realize how much better Housen is that 6 Mile.
