    Default Big Sandy area.

I'm thinking about fishing the big sandy area late April / early May. I would either stay at Mansard Island resort or Pleasant View Resort. Which one would be closest to the best crappie fishing?
I am not interested in modern facilities or friendly management, just a bed and good fishing. Thanks JC

I’ve heard Mansard is nice. But I really don’t know first hand. There is also Buchanan resort you might look at

I'm mostly interested in the fishing around those areas. I'm not worried about the accommodations. JC

Wife and I stayed at Pleasant View last year. It's at the end of the West Sandy arm right next door to the pump house. Was close to plenty of fishing spots for single poling or spider rigging.

Pleasant View, no doubt. You may be able to stay right there in the West Sandy, catch all you want, and if not, short ride to the Big Sandy.
Mansard Island is a short ride away from the better spots, Swamp Creek can be good, but at Springville (Pleasant View), you start fishing at the dock!

Yes, plenty of water depth. That time of year, may be several boats out. That should be post spawn, and most of the " once a year crappie anglers" may be doing other things.
Both areas attract a few pleasure boaters, but should be too early for most jet skis, and ski boats.

I've never stayed at either place, but like pleasant view for the reasons lane47 said

Pleasant View is just down the road from me. It is a good area. No one will steal your hubcaps.
