Hit the water at 5:30 fished until almost dark and three crappie ... they had moved out to a little deeper in brush and were hanging tight. I’ll hit them again tomorrow and see how they act. More later.
thanks for you report!
Fished Cantey Creek and main channel out from it. ZERO crappie. Catfish, gills, and those pesky bass the size of a large shad. We drove a couple hours to try it out. Longline, spidering, and brushpiles/docks. No luck. Water 62 degrees. Hope y’all do better than we did

Fished it Wed afternoon (after the 4hr drive from Lex.) and came in with 8 keepers .... all day Thur & came in with 8 keepers ... half a day on Fri and came in with 3 keepers. Most fish were in the 11" size range, on average. Mostly Black Crappie, with a few White Crappie & a couple Blacknose.
All caught casting 1/16oz weedless jigheads with various color combos of plastics ... but, limetreuse or chartreuse in the combo was a factor. Most fish caught over a blowdown tree that tops out in about 30fow ... with fish hitting jig at approx 15ft deep. Bite was very light, in most cases, with only a few fish actually "thumping" it. Thankfully it was mostly calm, or else we would probably not have even known we were getting bit a lot of the time. Most fish were hooked just barely inside the lip rim, including those that did thump it or just swim off with it. We did catch several throwbacks, and lost a couple fish that came unbuttoned before reaching the net.
We did get a few fish from dock shooting, but usually only 1 fish per dock.
Water temp was 64deg on Wed. ... water clarity was fairly clear, with nearly 3ft visibility.
Fished the Whites Creek and Cane Creek areas, with a trip to the Piney River & King Creek areas (but with limited success in either of those areas).

Me holding one of the better fish (~13")
