Smile Joyous Chickamauga Lake report: 6/21/2016

Look who is back after 4 years and beating all odds that he would even live or ever fish again. My friend, Norman Neel aka Labman took me fishing in his new boat and we were privileged to catch a few crappie this morning. Labman hasn't lost his touch at all. He got back into those fish as if he had never left them. He is a perfect example that prayer works and that God is good to all.

All our fish came deep, from 15 feet down to 25-30 feet and our presentations were extremely slow. We were fishing 1/16 oz jig heads with Panfish Assassins and Bobby Garland plastics. Blue Grass in a PA worked for me and a Full Moon Bobby Garland. Norman fished with Bobby Garlands in a lure that had some blue to it. Maybe Blue Ice or something very close to that. We fished bridge pilings and vertical structure. The other places that we tried, deep brush, etc. we could not get a bite on our lures. But we did stay through the entire morning movement on the bridge and the vertical structures. When that bite dried up, we went to other cover, but by then, the fish had quit playing.

We released all fish to grow into TARP size. Grin. Norman did hook up a nice spotted bass and got all the fun out of it while I was catching a good crappie, but the bass jumped just outside the net and threw the jig. When it warmed up, which it did fairly quickly, we called it a day. No use wearing Labman out on his first fishing trip. I took him around and showed him some places that I had found since we last fished together over 4 years ago.

Thanks for taking me fishing today, Norman. We are praising God that you are now able to get out again. Now, just figure out that new graph that you have and pretty soon, you will be smoking everyone else.
