    Default Chickamauiga Lake report: 3/01/2016


    Dr Phillip Gawthrop helped me put new bunk boards on my boat trailer this AM, and afterward, we decided to fish for a while. We had to put on rainsuits after about 1 hour and left them on the rest of the day, although during the middle part of the day, the sun came back out. We were putting the boat back on the trailer when this afternoon rains began again. Good timing.
    We had a very good day of crappie fishing. 18 keepers and about 30 shorts. Our best 7 crappie weighted 12.18 lbs by our digital scales. We had 5 fish between 13 and 13.9" long and one 14" white crappie. Too bad this wasn't a tournament day. We would have won this thing today. Grin. We caught our fish on Blue Ice Panfish assassins 2" size on 1/24 oz jig heads and on Bobby Garland Eclipse 2" Baby shad on 1/16 oz jig heads. All our fish were deep today. We had 5 white crappie over 13" long.

    Good job guys. Looks like you hit the maternity ward of this years crappie. Where were those fish 2 weeks ago? That sure would have been a good bag at the weigh- in. I'd expect some really good weights at Watts Bar. thanks for the report.
