Fish still suspended out main channel ledges
Anybody been out lately and have a report on the bite?
Fish still suspended out main channel ledges
Let me know how you do ... and where you find them (depth & cover type ... not specific locations).
I've fished WB for several decades, usually April & Oct, and there never seems to be any consistency in when & where they'll be where they "should" be .. given the season & lake conditions. It seems to have gotten a lot harder to pattern the Crappie, even in the Spring spawning season, over the last 10 years. I mean, you would think that with water temps in the mid 60's that the fish would be shallow if not already bedding ... not still 20-50ft deep
Just last Fall we caught our fish at almost 30ft deep ... when normally we'd be catching them at 10-15ft deep. And they were out on the ends of blowdown trees, not under the deep water docks (where we would normally find them). (report from that trip : http://www.crappie.com/crappie/kentu...p/#post2817405 )
Here's my report from last April : http://www.crappie.com/crappie/tenne...s-bar-crappie/ .... just for a comparison to what the water temps were & depth of the fish, then & now.
... luck2ya, Andy ... and I hope to get a good report from your trip !!

I'd be glad to get you a report. I've been going down for the last 5 years and it has varied from never having to leave the dock area to slay em all the way to looking for days it seems like to find them. When we have it seems like we've found small pockets of keepers with a large number of throwbacks. Tree tops and similar structure have seem to held the best for us in the past. If we slay'em I'll be sure to post some picks. I don't want to give you bad news!!
No worries, Andy ... I'll take bad news as well as good news. Actually, I'd take any reports ... seeing as how I can never seem to get any from locals/site members. It might be that we'll be heading down that way in a couple of weeks ... so ANY report will give me much needed info to make a plan of attack, or postpone the trip to a later date.
I've fished the lake pretty extensively, from Caney Creek to the Piney Point area. But, will most likely start in the Whites Creek area, being as we'll probably be staying at Arrowhead.
And it would be best to take pics of your catch, once you return to where you're staying, rather than out on the lake ... so that internet trollers won't be able to identify your catch location. Depth fished, baits used, methods used, and types of cover fished can all be posted ... but, if you want to pass along any specific or more detailed info, then PM that info to me. Giving out too much "specific" info may be one of the reasons the locals/site members don't report much on Watts Bar.
We've even had some site members run some new members off, simply because they thought the new members were asking for too much "specific" info ... even though they really weren't.

Hahaha! I wish I knew enough to be considered a keeper of secret fishin holes! I went about 2 weeks ahead of you last year and did pretty well. We only limited out 1 day, but we had a successful trip. If I'm on the water and I'm fishing then I consider it a successful trip. I'll keep you updated sir! I know exactly where you stay and the area you are fishing.
I have property on Watts Bar and have fished it for about 33 years off and on. I always wonder why no one talks about activity ... Maybe this explains it!! Maybe we just start a PM communication process ... Lots off food for the in Whites Creek area. Enjoy and I am happy to share if you guys wish to do so, just let me know.
