    Default Wylie 4-6-2015 Flatlining

Reported my last attempt with some big slabs a couple weeks ago so the wife wanted to go this time. Got to Crowders about 8:30 and stayed till 11:30. Flatlining with 1/16 jigs all colors with 60 foot out and trolling .6 to 1.1 depending what height i wanted to try at the time in 11 to 20 feet of water depth. Sometimes I was targeting 13 feet but most of time was targeting 6 feet. I always thought that it was not much fun flatlining but yesterday that changed. It was exhilarating getting multiple poles hitting at once. It was different from tight-lining because with tight-lining no big deal with multiple lines they wont get tangle up. With flat-lining it takes more attention. One time I asked the wife if she could put her romance book down and help.

Got over some schools and was catching a lot of small perch and small crappie. Crappie about 8 inch to 10 inch. Threw them back. Perch were small also. Now and then we would catch a slab or big perch. We were busy for 3 hours catching. Wife got some big slabs. One time wife had a big slab it look like at the surface was pushing easy 2 pounds. She had my 14 foot pole and dragged in too much line and power loaded the pole by lifting and the crappie while it was trying to go down and ripped the jig out of mouth. So I fussed at her and after that was done I apologize to her since I saw I hurt her feelings. I told her I just got caught up in the moment. So I instructed her what to do the next time in handling big poles. She did real well after that and complimented her on that. Whew I think I passed that difficult situation.
Slabs where 1.8 pounds to 1.12 pounds. I only kept what I wanted to filet. Which was only a few good ones. We had fish tacos that night.

Also one black Crappie was really dark (means it has been shallow awhile) and look like it dumped her eggs for very few eggs where inside. Other slabs had a gut fool of eggs. I normally don't keep much slabs this time of year but we were getting low in the freezer. Besides you all want pics. So my first 4 attempts flatlining has been catching fish and I am learning this new art. Thanks again for all your expert help. I am posting a pic. I asked wife for a pic she said no her hair was not right. I hope my hair was right.

Congratulations on your catch Crappiekidd! Glad you are getting the hang of it. I hope that didn't get you in the dog house. That would have cost me a day of shopping with her for a pair of shoes, purse or makeup. lol Thanks for the story, the report and pic.
