Are there any lights showing on the StructureScan module ...??
Rickie
Dad bought a boat the other day that has an HDS7 Gen1 at the console, linked to a HDS5 Gen1 up front, and it has the Structurescan module. When I first tried to use the structurescan, it said No Source on a blank screen, Sonar and GPS work fine. I disconnected and reconnected the cable and the no source went away. But, I am not seeing any return. I have the white line in the middle of the screen, but no bottom data is showing up. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I'll have to check when I get home. First time to have the boat in the water was a tournament Saturday so I didn't have much time to fool with it. But we did have 16.06 lbs with a big bass of 4.96 lbs for a total payout of $930
And yes I understand this is a Crappie site, but honest to goodness, I am on quite a few fishing forums but have found this one to be the most friendly and helpful, so thanks very much guys!!

Ok, no lights on the module. It appears to be red to red and yellow to yellow with the HDS7 at the console. I didn't have a test light at the house to make sure it is getting power. I am only planning to use the HDS5 up front for the chart. Could I unhook the transducer line going to the module and hook it straight into the 7 and basically bypass the module?

HDS gen1 does not have internal StructureScan brains ... The LSS xducer must be connected thru the module ...
The yellow wire is a wake up signal wire to power the module when the unit is powered on ...
Try tying the red and yellow wire together to 12v power and see if the lights on the module come on ...
If you decide to leave red and yellow wired together - you will need a switch to power on/off the module ...

Ok... The yellow and red from both the LSS and the HDS7 are connected together, individually. (yellow/yellow and red/red)The yellow wires are connected to a 12v source that comes on when the master power at the console is turned on. I checked the #3 pin on the power cable at the LSS and it has power. The HDS5 up front when switched to the structure page recognizes the LSS and I get the white line scrolling down the screen. The HDS7 was still showing "No Source". I disconnected the ethernet cable and reconnected it and it began reading. But if I wiggled it a little, it would show no source, then go back to reading. I am leaning towards a bad cable, or possibly the port on the unit having a bad pin. I twisted the wire 360 degrees and then reinstalled it and it hasn't shown no source again. But heres the goofy part, I have not seen a light on yet on the LSS. Where are they located?
Oh yeah, just another piece of info, I set the 7 back to factory defaults, and the structure page wasn't there. After a few minutes a balloon popped up and said structurescan elements (or something like that) have been enabled and then the structure page was there.

There should be an amber light directly above "Power" printed on the module ... It is a very dim dot on all my modules ...
It sounds like you have already narrowed it down to an Ethernet cable connection ...
Try a different Ethernet cable ...
