Default Networking or connecting with Ethernet cables

Ok I want to connect my 998 si hd to a Helix G2N . Is this called networking or is it the same as connecting with an Ethernet cable. (Just so it sounds like I know whats going on). Id like to know what is shared. Id like to know what cable or cables are needed. Id like to know if both transducers are on the transom of my boat will I have cross talk. Id like to know where the best placement of the mega transducer will be (I have a tracker magna deep vee aluminum boat). I'm sure more questions will come up. Thanks in advance.

In HB, Ethernet is networking ...

HELIX G2N can share with 998 >>> waypoints, Accessories, and Sonar (with CHIRP turned off) ...

Also if the G2N is MEGA - the MEGA 1200kHz frequency cannot be shared ...

You will need the AS EC QDE adapter cable for the HELIX ...

And you will need an Ethernet cable long enough to reach ...
    https://www.humminbird.com/productCa...74&facets=7319,

    -----

It is very likely there will be Crosstalk with xducers operating at the same time ... Both units set to using the same xducer (in the Network Menu) will eliminate Crosstalk ...
    -----

Some mount the expensive MEGA xducer higher on the transom or a jackplate (for protection) and then use an additional 2d xducer with a Y cable for high speed depth readings ...

This is going to be confusing. The 998 can use the mega xducer? I'm using 2 xducers on my 998 the hd and a seperate 2d for high speed. Will I be able to use the 2d for the helix unit. If so will I need any other cables. Can I use the splitter I have and the switch I use to go between xducer on my 998. Thanks again

Please explain the "splitter" and the "switch" you have so I can answer correctly ...

I have a switch from.HB I believe it has 1 & 2 on it I use it to go between my 2d transducer and SI . The splitter has both transducers going to it then goes to the switch. When I get home today ill look for the package it came in and give you the model numbers. Sorry I couldn't be more clear in this

I think it's the TS 3w transducer switch. And I think the splitter is Humminbird AS SILR Y Transducer Adapter Cable

The Mega CAN use the 2D XDCR however the TS3 and AS SILR Y are not compatible with the Mega SI units.

    Sound about right Rickie?

    Correct ....

Let's get some more info to see what we can set up ...

I think I understand there is the HDSI and an additional 2d xducer attached to the transom and both connected to the 998 (with the HB TS3 Switch) ...

    1. Where is the 998 going to be after adding the HELIX ...??

    2. Where is the Helix unit going to be ...??

    3. Will there be a unit at the bow ...??
