Default Onix software (2.700) comparing medium chirp and high chirp

Using the stock transducer. Comparing the medium chirp and high chirp... https://youtu.be/xztUt8fvsUg

    Kosmo,

Thank you so much for taking the time to do/post this. Onix medium & high chirping appears to create very clean & detailed images. Having used it, do you know if the Fish ID capability functions in chirping mode? A lot of people don't use Fish ID, but I have found it to be useful to "Size" fish when using a 2D/DI split screen.

I really don't no . I never use Fish ID, but now you've got me curious about it. Before the chirping, a fish should show up as a different color, if it were outside the 2d 20° coverage area. But that was a fixed 20°/60°,cone angle. While chirping, I don't no what cone angle, verse frequency would be? I would think, medium chirp would be 60° while high chirp 20°.I'll check tomorrow(I agree much less clutter, while chirping and something, I don't understand is, even when a fixed frequency is chosen. There still seems to be less clutter than before, I think.)

I use Fish ID to attempt to separate bait fish from larger fish. The different colors for the different cone angles won't work on my Onix. I only get one color irrespective of frequency, but I do get the fish symbol...presumably for the larger fish. As I understand it, the fish symbol is assigned based upon the echo given off by the fish's air bladder. Only bladders of a larger fish get the fish symbol. Not sure how all of this echo interpretation will work, or if it will work at all, when there are multiple frequencies, cone angles etc. in play. I would love to be putting this upgrade thru the paces, but my boat is 750 miles away and the lake there is frozen. It's killing me. Thanks again for you efforts!

Tryed the fish I'd today. Sorry, but it appears to be broken. No fishes on 200khz and there are fishes on 83khz,but some of them were showing lower the the bottom. Some good news though, I was able to verify some of the fish arches....

I think you are going to have to do a little surgery on that measuring tool to fit that one in there.

Update on fish ID.... I think I was wrong, what posted. I think the 83khz does show the fish symbols correctly. The 200khz was the one that was showing some fish symbols below the bottom. Doesn't really matter, it's still broken anyhow...

What very little I got to experiment with the ONIX CHIRP this past weekend ...

I could not get any configuration of CHIRP to show brush ...

The CHIRP did seem to show fish very well ...

I have a lot of experimenting to do ...
