    Default eagle claw lil nasties

Been using these hooks for awhile in my heads. My question is on the bronze, black chrome and red. Which ones are better? I know the bronze is cheaper why is that? Are they they same quality as the other 2? Thanks

They are same hooks, black chrome and red just go through more processes to get there. My opinion is that the black chrome are better and seem to be sharper. The bronze will have a tendency to rust easier if left damp in a box for awhile. Red hooks have a tendency to be more brittle because they go through 2-3 heat cycles to get them coated with the red. They go from bronze to gold to red each time being heated to be coated.

Cray hit the nail right on the head.

We litterally poured 10's of thousand hooks per year for our business. Although red was the most popular in terms of color in the area, we were the first bussiness to switch over to the black chrome instead. After writing about our findings in regards to heat treating and the anodizing process, and the amount of testing we put in both on the bench and on the water, it didn't take other companies long to make the switch. Biggest complaint from almost everyone was the red hooks were breaking.

That is what I have noticed is the red break a lot easier than the black chrome and the bronze.
