Thread: FishUSA and Shimano to Host ‘Reel Fun BBQ’ Fishing Advocacy Event

FAIRVIEW, Pa. [Oct. 10, 2017] - FishUSA ®, America’s Tackle Shop ®, and worldwide fishing tackle manufacturer, Shimano, invite the local community to attend a ‘Reel Fun BBQ’ on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m., at the FishUSA Pro Shop, 6960 West Ridge Road in Fairview, Pa.

This free fishing education and advocacy event will feature hands-on product demonstrations, question and answer sessions, and a meet-and-greet with members of the Shimano Experience Team. The Experience Team, who are experts in each of Shimano’s four brands (Shimano, G. Loomis, PowerPro and Jackall) and who fish a variety of species, is comprised of angling veterans Roy Leyva and Erin Divelbiss.

FishUSA Buyer and ‘Reel Fun BBQ’ Coordinator, Corey Shields, says that though this free community event is meant to celebrate our local fishery, it's also aimed at spreading an important message of advocacy - something Shimano is very passionate about.

“Our local fishery offers an opportunity for all anglers to enjoy the outdoors as often as possible,” Shields explained. “While we certainly have great access to local streams and lake front property, we are reminded that we can all do our part to help keep our waterways clean and accessible for future generations. This is what makes working with Shimano on this event so exciting, as they are industry leaders in angler advocacy for both access and conservation alike.”

In addition to Shimano’s Experience Team, representatives of several Lake Erie and local fishing advocacy organizations, including the S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, will be in attendance for question and answer sessions and education.

All members of the community are encouraged to attend the 'Reel Fun BBQ' and enjoy a complimentary pulled pork sandwich. The first 50 people in attendance will receive a free T-shirt and all children age 12 and under will receive a free fishing goodie bag. To cap off the event, several free raffles will also be held throughout the day. A grand prize drawing will take place for a Shimano Stradic CI4+ Reel, G. Loomis E6X Fishing Rod and $250 FishUSA Gift Card.

Shields encourages everyone to take a moment out of their day to attend FishUSA and Shimano's first ‘Reel Fun BBQ.’
