    Default 4-24-24 Weekly Meetup

Great weather , partly cloudy low to mid 70’s . The wind 8-18 mph was the only issue we had weather wise .
We fished four boat ramps in the four hours we were there .
I took the best tools for the job today , a couple XUL’s .
Perfect for the small gills we caught . 28 for my fishing buddy , 31 for me .
Combos were a 5’6” Daiwa Trout X XUL paired with my Daiwa Presso 1000LT and my red/black 5’ Daiwa Trout X XUL paired with a Daiwa Fuego 1000LT , both spooled with Daiwa J-braid .
BTW , In The Daiwa Trout X line , everything 5’ and under are red/black , the 5’6” and longer are Black with a split grip .
A fun day catching mostly dinks . Did catch three bass , this was the biggest one .
    Colorful catches today .

A good meeting with your bud. Glad y’all were able to go. My buddy NiNo went today and sent me pics, would’ve been nice to join him. Pretty gills in the pics. I know everyone likes those I catch but yours have more colors. The 5’6” with the Presso makes for a nice looking combo. I’m a sucker for that style and shape grip.

Tim , the Trout X is available in 5’6” in an UL and XUL and IMO are better rods than the Daiwa Presso rods .
In the Presso I own a 5’ , a 6’ and a four piece 7’ . I’ve fished the 5’ more than the other two . They may be pretty , but feel cheap , especially the guides .

Thanks chaser. I looked at the troutx and they’re right at $100. Victor goes on about the Presso and they come in a six foot which has become my go to here lately. I already have a few in 5’6” and like em a lot but my 6’ Fenwick build is great except I didn’t use the right reel seat for my taste, and it’s a light instead of UL. I found a $39 rod that looks great but that saying about looks being deceiving is screaming at me. Might go nose around at mudhole for something a little better than average.

I really don’t think you would like the 6’ Presso .
Victor uses a 7’6” Presso for float fishing. .
In the 5 and 6’ lengths they’re a little stiff IMO . The 7’ travel rod is heavy.
    Edit:
Just did a wiggle test on the six footer and it feels tip heavy and a little dead .
I bought them when they were fairly cheap and kept trying different lengths trying to find one I liked . Never found it .
Bought a 5’6” and a 6’1” latest model Daiwa Procyon and they xtra xtra fast with what feels like a solid tip .
I liked the older model Procyons. .
And the other US Daiwa UL offering, the Spin-matic breaks too easily.

Not sure you’ll like a US market Presso. I tried one and really did not like it.
