Thread: Low Limbs

If the pond owner wouldn't get the britches in a pinch over a little pruning I'd be doing it. Up In these parts would never bother a mulberry overhanging. That is a for certain hangout for a channel cat. lol

And carp! Im going to try for those on the river near me this year when the mullberries are ripe. Not that I like carp but theyre easy picking then and put up a decent fight.

Don't cut all of the limbs, just enough to allow a cast under the overhang. The overhanging limbs may be why the fish are there to begin with.

I personally would not cut the limbs. Especially, if the pond was not mine. There are many times I have wished I could find overhanging limbs to fish around. Many of the insects that the bream are feeding on use those limbs to rest and nest. It also provides shade for fish.

I agree not wanting to disturb area, just in places about 18".

Why not rig your cricket and float with a bobber stop. This way the cricket, split shot, bobber is all about 8 inches long. Now bow and arrow shoot the whole affair back up under the limbs. I fish a jig by shooting it, my main way of fishing, and on occasion when I go to a river with overhanging willow trees, I catch a lot of fish shooting under the limbs. Kit

I'd fix it so that I could fish it without gymnastics.

Never forget dad catching big bream in a small pocket once. Only problem was an overhanging limb that made it hard to get back in the hole. He cut it and never caught another one.
