Default Portable fish finder to use on a dock

I've searched but can't seem to locate a thread from a couple of years ago that I think was regarding a portable fish finder to use on a dock. Since I won't be moving, most sonar beams wouldn't help much unless the fish swam right through the narrow beam. I've been looking at a FishHunter Pro from Lowrance. Is there any others that anyone can recommend? I'd prefer one that uses WiFi signal to be used with a smartphone or hard wired to a viewer (I don't want to use Bluetooth because I connect my phone to my speaker via bluetooth for some tunes while I'm fishing).

    Thank you in advance.

    Default Dock Sonar

While my suggestion doesn't match your stated specs, I've spent many, many hours staring down an ice hole and I'm a long-time believer in Vexilar flashers. They take some experience learning to interpret the readings, but once you do, they're about as close to real-time as you can get. And if I can see tiny little perch ice jigs on one, I know I'll be able to see my crappie jigs, too.

Wouldn't you know it, when I retired from the USAF and moved from ND to OK, I loaned all my ice fishing gear to a buddy that still lived there, never thinking that I might actually use my Vexilar FL-8 and my underwater camera here. He's moving out of ice country, so I'm getting them back soon...can't wait to put some technology to work on those dock fish.

Here's a shot of that Vex flasher hard at work, and a few yellow perch awaiting their release to the grease.

And the underwater camera...dang northerns would cruise through & scare off the perch every half hour or so.

Default Portable fish finder to use on a dock

Wonder how a portable FF with SI would do bank fishing and on a dock. Could use it as poor man’s 360. Other than having to carry everything it might help find where to cast a bit faster. I like the idea for when not on the boat

Thanks for the feedback JM. The FishHunter Pro from Lowrance has an Ice Fishing Flasher View mode. It also has normal sonar views which I might be able to take advantage of when my buddy brings his kayaks. I went ahead and ordered the FishHunter Pro -- now just have to wait for it to get delivered next week so I can start using it in the Ice Fishing Flasher View. Luckily, in the Ice Fishing Flasher View, it also has the RAW data view so I can use that to help me understand what I'm seeing on the Flasher screen.

I'm interested how it works for you as I like to dock fish in winter. Maybe use my HB helix with down image, Sonar or ice fishing mode. Just not sure it would help setting still.

Sweet! I'm sure after you watch a couple YouTube videos from some icefishing guys, you'll be all squared away on how to read that flasher. For stationary fishing, I don't know if anything gives more immediate feedback on what's happening below the surface (except a camera, or course). Good luck, and let us know how it turns out!

And just because I dig these pics, here's another one...look at all them tasty yellow perch!
