Kaw is good crappie lake. I caught a lot of 12"- 15" slabs at Kaw in the month of May. By the way, you need to watch for Lake Ponca. EDQ just added it to the Fish Consumption Advisories.
They need to re-evaluate their testing. The amount of rainfall this year for the first time in many years has completely flushed the lake.
I'm fully aware of how mercury and fish work, but after years of zero discharge, and the recent flushing, the advisory should diminish over time.

It's a tough cove to navigate. The stumps are 30' tall, and just under the surface at normal water levels. With the lake still 7' high, you get into the limbs that were exposed at normal levels.
I've followed the old creek channel many times but still get hung up on stumps and had locator sensors bent in their brackets, etc.
tons of fish in there though.

Got to take my favorite fishing partner ( my wife) yesterday morning for awhile before the wind got bad. We had a pretty good morning catching blues. Didn't keep any of the bigger fish all catch and release. This is 2 of the bigger ones. Ended the morning with 16.

They had to leave by 1:00 yesterday due to other obligations so we had to get on the fish early. He was not real happy about that. For a 10 yr old he is a good fisherman. Gonna be a great fisherman one day. The fish he's holding was his biggest ever. He was pretty excited.
