Default does 2 people catch more fish than 1?

lets assume you have 2 good crappie fisherman in the boat. At the end of the day, you have 32 fish in the livewell. If only one person would have been fishing, would you still have 32 fish. All this to say, do you think there is only "x" amount of fish on a piece of structure. Can one person effectively catch them, if they slow down. Does the second person just help them get "x" out faster? Or do you think more jigs or baits in the water cause reaction bites and more fish come to them from surrounding areas? Let me have some input.

I wonder if sometimes more bait in the water fires em up. It could be why spider rigging can be so effective at times. But by disclaimer I'm not one of those 2 good crappie fisherman.

Interesting question Ledge!! I find it pretty simple to go catch a limit, however to get a 2 man limit (even with a good fisherman) is more work. I usually pick 2 or 3 off a piece of structure and move. Except for those times of year when 1 spot is all you need to go to. I do think more baits in the water can start a frenzy. I'm with Pappa though, I am still learning. I would like to hear what you think after you get enough replies!!

Hard to say, I have been on fishing trips with 4 people in the boat and only 1 will catch anything while the other three look on in wonder.

Gotta agree with Dyabolical. I think it has to do with the electrons emanating from your body. But two guys with good electrons can try different techniques and baits and perhaps get onto a stronger pattern faster than just one guy. By the way, about twenty other people were fishing today at a mountain lake. They were using flies, worms, spinners, etc. They got zilch. Some said they had not caught a fish all week. They must have had bad electrons, but mine were good, resulting in 37 trout, many of which were released with a sore lip.

Yeah there is no guarantee at the end of the day 1 person would have filled the live well with 32 like 2 did. Might only put 15 in. Hell last 3 trips out I averaged 1 per hour!

Fishing is like poker some win someone else looses. In most of my life I have fished with one or two other fishermen in the boat. Is always a contest who will catch the most. It is all about having a fun enjoyable day on the water. If I fished to eat I would just save my money and go to fish market would have lots more to eat!!! I thank more fishermen will catch more fish but is very rare to both catch the same number.

Very good summer doldrums question Ledge. I think that in a boat utilizing an anchor two guys fish the pile probably more thoroughly and catch more than one guy would but wandering around with a trolling motor maybe not. However, early morning or evening when the bite turns on I think it's helpful to have an extra jig in the water before the fish leave or turn off so over all I think two will catch more than one alone.

Ok, ya'll don't laugh at me here.
From the replies so far it seems most think more bait/jigs in the area where crappie are holding will produce more fish.
I've always heard stories of people crappie fishing putting minnows in glass jars then suspending them in the brush as a method to get the fish in a feeding mode. I've never done it and don't have any fishing buddies that have either.
So, if more jigs produce more fish, I wonder if this would work? Anybody try it?

Well you and I do pretty well on your "secret spot" during the cold period. I am fixin to break out my new home made 300 LED light for some night time fishing with minners and jigs and we will see what happens.
