    Question Never fished for crappie.

I'm brand new to crappie fishing. Tomorrow morning pouring rain or shining sun I'm hitting keystone lake. I got 3 packs of bobby garland 2 inch baby shad in the mail today. Thousands of tube jigs and lots of other variety. I'm dropping my 2 catfish poles in the water, try my luck with striper pole. Which I also have never fished for. And then starting on the crappie. With all that nonsense said does anybody have any tips for a 36 year old man who has never even seen a crappie in person let alone fished for one. So they bite in the rain ? Any tips will be appreciated.

Welcome to the board, new. My best advice is to find an old geezer (my age) who knows Keystone and is willing to share info. I have never fished Keystone, but the crappie in much of the state are either on the banks or close to the banks. Try fishing near brush by dipping your jig with a long pole or by fishing very shallow under a small bobber. Good luck, and let us know how you do.

I'm gonna give it my best shot in a few hours. Just waiting to see just how bad the storm is gonna be. Hoping to go just after. I have heard that's the best time for crappie

Anytime is the best time for Crappie. Woodworker2 fishes Keystone a lot. He could use a younger fishing buddy at times and he'll be able to teach you what's what. Matter of fact, he could use a friend.

Cool I will try and track him down. Keystone is literally 15 minutes from my house. My wife and I also hit oolagah almost every other weekend during the summer months
