The new technology is amazing. How deep will the side imaging show?
The question should be how far will it show. I run mine set at 60'. That is like a slice of water extending 60' out to the left and right
side an 60' deep. Think of a slice of water like a semicircle. I don't recall how far you can set it but, it's a couple oh hundred feet.
For all of our lakes, I think 60' is all you would ever need.

One more detail added to Okie Bob's info. If you are in deeper than 60 foot of water you have to scan further than the 60 '. Winter time I usually run 125' on both sides of the boat. Because of water depth. If I am working in shallower water I like 60' also.

Redge is right on. If you were in over 60' of water, I think you'd have a blank screen??? (assuming you are set to 60' SI) You'd get no returns at all unless maybe there were fish in the area. But, no bottom at all. I've never tried that. Actually never fished in water that deep except offshore.
