Go to Ross Barnett..Fish are on fire there.
If you had the chance to head to Mississippi to fish for 2 days which one of the top 4 lakes (Grenada, Washington, Sardis, Enid) would you fish and tell me why you would choose that particular lake. I've been wanting to head over there to give it a try and I'm afraid if I don't do it I'll never make it over there and all I'll do is just talk about how I would like to go some day. If you have been to one or even all tell us what your fishing experience was like there.

Me and 3 other guys hauled to Grenada 4 years ago in March. It was the week before the annual Crappie Masters Tourney. Got there and the wind was so bad they wouldn't allow anyone to lauch so we sat around out cabins the first two full days. Third day, the guide we hired said he'd take us to Enid, I believe it was and it was still windier than I would normally fish but, since they only fish spider rigging you don't have to worry about sitting over a brush pile so we went. With a guide we caught zero fish out of two boats and two guys per boat. Finally got on Grenada and fished two days before it started raining. Fished in the rain, always spider rigging and don't recall the exact number but between the two boats we had maybe 12 total fish and none over 1 pound!
Of course the next week it took almost 21 pounds (7fish) to win the tourney. That' s my story and I'm sticking to it.
I'm heading to Lake Weiss, Alabama leaving Tuesday morning.

That was an extremely tuff year on Grenada, those 20 pound stringers were taken out of only 7 fish a lot of those teams caught all day, not missing a bite.
Pick a lake and go fishing, hire a guide if you like, summer time and fall fishing is great. Spring fishing is so unpredictable, warm winter this year means early spawn right? Not really, still caught spawning fish on Grenada last week but think they are finishing up. This spring has been a windy pain with very little rain and all of the big 4 are low.

Rees, I understand Lake Weiss is full and they have been releasing water most of the spring. My son has a place on the lake and that is the reason I'm heading there tomorrow morning. I booked us a trip with Mark Collins for Friday instead of hauling my boat from Oklahoma.
We had the same situation here this spring. Warm winter, late spawn. Catching lots of small fish due to the heavy rains we had the past two years. But, the next few years
will be fantastic for crappie as a result.
