crowder is always a good starting point for this time of the year...love catching those big ones like that
There is never a question as to weight when you use a scale. In this case, this fish was worth $114,000. I know b/c thats my fish in the pic:D and it weighed 870lbs
That looks sorta like the one that straightened my hook out last spring!

Fished with Thumper this weekend. Actually all weekend. 2 day trip and were both still recovering
Anyway to the results of the trip....
Fished Gaines Creek Saturday.
A good current was flowing in the creek. We found one stretch right out of the shoot and caught some fish spider rigging break lines in the main channel. Wasn't real hot and heavy so moved on and it was slow in a lot of places. A fish here or there. We ended up coming back to where we started out and just slugged it out a bit past dark. Days total was 40 keepers and tossed about 15 midgets back.
Sunday we launched at Crowder. Nabbed a few good fish around Arrowhead. Nada at Blocker and ended up the day fishing around Rock Creek and Culvert. Ended the day with 45 fish. tossing around another 15 back. Just pushed jigs on Sunday. and when they hit the jig it almost tore the rod out of your hand.
Oh and we caught about 5 of those ugly green perch things and a few sandies decided to try to crash the party too on Sunday. Rock Creek and those ugly green perch. Someone should clean those things outta there :P
It was tough fishing and that East wind was murderously cold on Sunday, but the Big E didn't let us down as usual.
eb, you mind sharing that theory. it was tuff but got some nice fish.and thanks for stoping to say hi. I was in the javlen.Ill try and post a picture of those elusive lock jaw crappies.

Good post, nice catch, looked like some decent fish.
It looked like ya'll were catching a few, you said ya'll done pretty good, I noticed both times I saw you that you were trolling with current. How many did you have out of that current in the creek? You need to let us in on your secret for those gaines creek crappie? Were those fish from last weekend in the picture or from January 3rd 2010? I saw ya'll found some of those gaines creek stumps on the edge of the creek channel. Nice bunch, what was the biggest one? Eb
