    Unhappy East Fork Saturday report

All I can say is S. L. O. W. Crappie bite was not good. Caught around 30, fished 8-2pm. Only 4 keepers. Most fish came with float and minnow 10' depth 12-16' of water. Lake was about 3' below summer pool. Not much of jig bite!

I was on EFL Saturday also. Caught 60 with more than 1/2 keepers. Only took home 5 between 11.5-13". Fishing was spotty. I got a report that Caeser's Creek was much better. Seems like EFL is starting or maybe already in turnover. Fish were very light biters. All came on jigs. Most in 10-12' of water. Thinking with this cold weather this week, turnover will be in full swing on all local lakes. I usually let turnover complete before getting back out. Water temps of constant 55 degrees usually means turnover complete. So, looking for 55 and below.

Caesars was 67° on Saturday morning. 9"ers were plentiful.
The survey ranger stop me and said the crappie fishing had been slow for others he surveyed.
    I caught about 30-40 with only 7 over 10".
Boat Traffic was less than I expected, but I was home by 1pm.

I was out on Friday and bite was slow in some places, crazy in others. Met a friend at the lake and we each fished in our own boats with both minnows & jigs.
I ended the day with 50-60 with maybe 1-2 keepers. Friend caught maybe 8-10 and 0 keepers. I fished behind my friend and for the most part speed and boat control were key to catching. Minnows and jigs caught about the same amount with a slow swimming action working best on jigs. Like others have said 10'-12' deep, mostly 15-20 fow.
Action should pick up once the temps drop below 60.

Fished East Fork today for a couple of hours, skunked again, never even got a bite. Motor wouldnt stay running so i could only stay down by the dam. Water temps were 62 according to my fish finder.

Hoping to get back up there this weekend. I just dont get it though, i found them schooled up, and shallower, when the water temps were 85 and air temps were in the 90's, then i have since it started to cool off.

I haven't been out for about 2 weeks. I guess I'm spending too much time in a tree stand.
FWIW I've been fishing deep since June.

I fished EF last Friday 11-2 all day and caught plenty hugging the bottom with jigs that HAD to be tipped with a minnow. Most were smallish but fat and healthy. Fished 5-10 fow. Crappiemax is right about them being deep, so it was good to see them moving up. I didn't get a chance to fish shallower. Can't get out this week but plan on concentrating in 0-5 next week. Water should be in the 50's if this week didn't push them down there already. but maybe the mighty Ohio will clear up by then.
    Leave some fro me.
