I have the Solix units, but had the same issue with the Helix units I had on one of my other demo boats. That being said, I do like the 360, the Lakemaster contour changabilty, and several other features the birds have. Their SI and DI aren’t any better than Lowrance when you run them side by side, and like Coach said, the Fish Reveal on the Lowrance DI is awesome and will be coming out on a update or two for the SI!!!!! If you doubt what I’m telling you, you’re welcome to take a look for yourself on my boat. I run both units and can show you the differences, or the Lack Of.
BTW, my Solix GPS/Chirp sonar unit on the front freezes up every 5 minutes, and I literally have to disconnect the power cord to reboot it. When it freezes up, the power button doesn’t even work. Bad unit from the factory I guess. I’ve had way more problems with the birds than I have with my Lowrance units. The birds take longer to boot up and are much slower connecting to the network. One more thing, the fishing range setting on the Lakemaster is nice, but it’s also available on the Navionics cards and Lowrance units. The fishing range is white instead of green on the Lowrance. Won’t be long before Navionics has the contour adjustments either and a Panoptics/360 type device will be coming soon on Lowrance.
Last but not least. NEITHER unit will make you a better fisherman. I’m proof of that for sure. The ONLY thing that makes you a better fisherman is more Time On The Water. PERIOD!!!!!
