Its about the same as everything else. It shows everything that moves in the water to about 70' away but you don't know what they are. I have to say though you can see a brushpile way before you get to it. This is with a ps21 mounted on a turnable stick. There has been I few times I have seen a fish hit a jig while riggin.

I've got the head unit and am currently looking at getting the Ps21 transducer in January.

Looks impressive, but $4k is a bunch of green to drop on a graph.

Garmin Panoptix is a completely different and unique sonar technology than present technologies offered by the brands ...

There are "aim-able looking Panoptix xducers" and "down looking Panoptix xducers" ...and each in several mounting options ...

Then there are several different image view formats that can be used to display the data received from Panoptix xducers ...

Select a Panoptix xducer from the list below and then click on the "Overview" tab under each to see the available view formats that specific Panoptix xducer can render into the MFD displayed image(s) ...
    https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/cOnT...c10535-p1.html

    Then it's a matter of..:

*Where does one want receive Sonar Data from in the water column ...??
*What image view format does one want to see on the MFD ...??
*Where is the preferred mounting option desired ...??

You can get into it for around $1400 if I understand it correctly.

I bought an Echomap93sv chirp for $700 and the forward looking trolling motor transducer is online for around $700 as well.

There is a new one out that will look forward or turn it to look down. Looks the same as the 21 except the lens is concave.

Well I'm not much on technology and can't even run my own electronics worth a hoot. I'm currently in the process of replacing an outboard motor so I'm borrowing a friends rig when I need to go. I was playing with his garmin unit yesterday and saw the panoptix option so I selected it to see what it was. It's was crazy. I was in really shallow water and it was showing me the bait I could see flipping around 20 ft in front of the boat. I watched a blob come up in the water column and a fish hammered my rod. I laughed out loud. I felt like I was cheating! So for you slow technology guys like myself, this garmin unit may be the ticket. I haven't shopped it but will ask what he has in it.
