    Default WARNING.....WARNING......WARNING.......

To all you fair skinned fishermen......which definitely includes this ole ex-Mississippi redneck......

This summer I ventured out fishing in a short sleeve shirt.....you guys know how your brain can only focus on fishing while out there.....well, I forgot to put on sunscreen.....and this week I paid the price....had a cancer cut off my forearm (not melanoma)...second time on that arm....

Just wanted to remind folks that this stuff does happen....I have a dermatologist that I see every 3 months....

    Hey PS,

That first picture is ugly. Not sure of whats in the bottom part? Are those Lipomas in your arms? I have them.

That's for the heads up. Take care.

See my dermatologist once a year for follow up check ups. Fair skinned, blond and have been wearing long sleeved shirts all my life. Still happens on the tops of ears
and side of cheeks and end of nose. I love my Dick Tracy hat.

First picture I took Thursday sideways to show the indentation caused by the doctor removing a chunk of my arm.....not Lipomas....the lump on the left is the beginning of an infection setting in.....this morning it was huge and turning red.....quick trip back to the doc this morning and he put me on an antibiotic.....

I'm still fairly young but I always put on sunscreen in the summer. I need to put it on it the winter also when we have those sunny skies, just seems hard to remember or think about when it is 20 degrees out and MOST of my skin is covered up. Good reminder Bruce! Thanks

Thankfully I am a south La creole mut. A mix if french, spanish, american indian and a sprinkling of other. This makes me kinda dark complected and the only time I can remember ever remember being sunburnt was while fishing I got a lil red under my chin and the bottom side of my arms from reflective sunlight offn da water, Peggy is another story, not only is she very fair but her scar tissue is very sensitive. She has several pale pastel long sleeved shirts that are light and rated at 30 protection that a floppy hat and an umbrella and she is safe fishing for a few hours but will still get a lil red on an all day boat picnic even though I seek out deep shade to sit.

OUCH!! Good Heads Up. When it comes to skin cancer... an ounce of prevention is truly far better than several pounds of cure.
