    Talking A New One

As promised, I will keep up with the stories about Country Boy NC due to the amount of requests in my pm box and from phone calls from a few of you. I do appreciate everyone taking time out to read these true stories about the escapades i have endured. Lets call this story the $3 story. I have only been crappie fishing around 8 years and when i started my father in law took me and then CBNC and i started going. We had made trips from Jordan, Rhodhiss, and the famed lake XXXX fishing at night. He had more experience than me and fishing at night was good and we always did okay and then one day we started talking about trying the trolling technique. We talked to some famed fishermen in our area and they said it was easy to learn. We had made many trips trying to figure it out and it was one of these days that i am leading up to. We arrive at lake XXXX and as we were unloading the boat he said "You know you have to a fishing permit for here don't you!" No one had ever mentioned that before but i thought i better get one to stay out of trouble. I have often wondered was he hoping i would get a ticket but never did? At any rate, this was no where near the first time i had been with him. I asked CBNC how much the liscenses were and he informed me the fee was $3 for one year. As i opened my billfold i realized that i did not have any money. The change in my pocket was all i had and i thought he would let me borrow three dollars surely because it was just this morning that i had bought 2 bags of ice, a drink for him and his son as well as some snacks for us all. "Do you have three bucks i can borrow" I asked him and the reply given to me was a stern NO and a slight and quick head twist to go along with the no i had. I walked up to the office and talked with a fellow in there and i counted out the change and i had $1.83 and i asked if i need to sit this one out or could i pay the difference when i came back. He was gracious enough to let me keep my dollar eighty three and told me to just pay him when i came back. Upon my arrival at the boat i was greeted with a curious look which was followed by "what did he say?" It is okay i replied. We were trying to figure out what speed, what size head, and what color all day. We had a good time and before you know it the clock said it was 2:30--we decided to call it a day, we were all tired. We had long since finished the drinks and snacks which we brought with us. On the way back i noticed the route we were taking was not the way we came, which is a cardinal sin because you could drive an extra .2 of a mile which wastes gas and causes extra wear and tear on a vehicle. All of a sudden we turn into the mall and i just knew a tire had come off. I was trying to figure out what we were doing and i looked at CBNC and said "what are we doing?" "Oh, were are going to Mcdonalds to get some lunch" he replied. As we were sitting in the drive thru line i just had to ask "I didn't think you had any money!" "I've got money, I just didn't have $3, i have 5's, 10's, 20's, and 100's but not three ones!" He even had the nerve to ask me if i wanted anything to eat--I would have starve to death before he bought me anything that day. It was later told to me from another aquaintance that he was trying to teach me to carry money. I know you are asking yourself did he really do that to Knappy and YES he did. Hope you have enjoyed this as much as i have.

Half and half, There is some B S in there too! He did not buy any snacks or drinks, He didn't buy any thing from the time he left home till he got back home! He brought a bottle of water and a pack of saltines crackers from home. I guess we were suppost to run the truck on that gallon of water he had and catch the fish with the crackers! That was the norm, always broke.......... not really, he thinks you aint soppost spend any of his money while fishing, it is free. For some reason my trips are not free! If he was broke, it would be a different stroy, He has not been broke as long as I have none him. He works more than I do. He has 2 children , I have 3 children, Go figure.
For the record, My boat has gas in it, my truck has gas in it, I have plenty of snacks and drinks, I have all my fishing liscense and permits, my own tackle and rods and I always pay my way. You got to pay to play or stay at home.
