    Unhappy fishing info

Prior to moving to the area I resided in the myrtle beach area..Always looked forward to the spring and fall crappie fishing in the Jordan Lake area on this website. Having to drive 200 miles to camp and enjoy fishing I always appreciated info on this site. It seems to me that hardly anyone posts any fishing info like before on this site. During and after my trips I would post my results including where and what my results were. I hoped that someone in my situation would read and do the same. What happened to the sociable fishermen who enjoyed the camaraderie between these fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts in general. Is the info so damaging to the lake or the fish population? Were the traveling fishermen and their responsible for the crappie decimation a few years ago? Thanks for feedback.

I know what you mean. In my case, I won't post a report because my results are usually pathetic, and I know their are fishermen that catch fish everytime they go out. For instance, my wife and I went yesterday (Jordan) - lake temp 65 - I caught one small perch and my wife caught two small crappie and once nice 2 lb. catfish. Found a lot of bait at the Ebenezer Bridge. Lots of fish, but, they didn't care much for our minnows. It was a nice day on the lake until the traffic picked up. Our local lakes will really pay the price for all the new subdivisions going up.

I was out on Jordan yesterday myself with similar results. I ended up with 4 keepers. First fish I caught was in 8fow. I one in 12 ft, one in 14 ft and then I caught one in 31/2 ft. Never could find them. Still a great day on the water till the wind picked up.

Go to Jordan and slowly cruise around and watch for fish busting the water. I went again yesterday evening and fish were knocking shad out of the water several times within 15 feet of my boat. Last weekend I put a beating on white bass and white perch casting into them when they were chasing the shad. Yesterday wasn't as great but I still managed several nice white bass, white perch and 5 largemouth bass. Guy was 50 feet away from catching several crappie in 25 FOW. Next time I WILL take my GoPro. I keep forgetting to take the thing with me.

I live in Hickory so I don't get to fish Jordan as much as I like but I was there last Friday night and Saturday morning. Fished under the Ebenezer bridge close to the bank. 16 FOW. Not much happened until dark and then the bite was off and on. Started fishing minnows but switched to jigs and actually did much better. I was using Mr.Crappie -Crappie Thunder Jig in Electric Chicken. Sometimes I tipped with a minnow and sometimes not. Could not tell much difference. My fishing partner was using a white jig and did almost as well. All in all we probably caught sixty to seventy. We kept 38 that were ten inches up to 13 inches. Most of the bigger fish were bursting with eggs. Tried a floating light but switched to a green submersible and this seemed to help the bite. Saturday morning we went to Robeson Creek and found some fish in 8-10 fow. Caught most on minnows. As a side note on Friday night there were probably 15-20 Vietnamese fishing from the rocks next to us and they did real well although I did see them keep quite a few fish that were questionable as far as size. Hope this helps. Good luck and good fishing.
