Thanks for all the input guys. I'm gonna be making me a tank about that size mikefish to go along with whatever kind of tank I decide to buy. Yes pete, I know I'm hard headed. I should just stick with the trolling, lol.
I have 2 graylines and have never had a problem with them. As others have said, just don't overload it. I've made several homemade tanks out of 50 gallon drums using the same principle as the grayline that end up holding about 42 gallons of water and if I need a bunch of bait I use that one. It is insulated and works just as good as my graylines do. I actually have one I need to finish up right now. Like has been mentioned, if you spend the money for any name brand bait tank it's gonna work.

I only need my big homemade one on the Roanoke River for striper fishing because we go through so much bait. My graylines work fine for everything else.

Mine is mainly going to be for keeping bait at my house for a couple of days in between trips. Not a long term solution but will do for now.

Bearclaw, G&M bait tanks went out of business. Idk why but there Facebook disappeared and that was the last I've heard of them.
Undoubtably the profit margin isn't much on the bait tanks. I had read good reports on the G& M tanks, speedy service,in stock and good quality, the price was in there with the superbait tanks2. Price is what I heard made the Creekbank tank owner stop producing tanks, they are very nice too, I have a friend that had one. Like I said earlier any brand of a insulated, filtered tank will be a good tank. I'm thinking if you're just wanting a holding tank for home you could Probally make one that would work fine for that. Robert Wood,,bobsbait on here had a chiller a while back. I have a 240 gal.round tank that I bought from Bob over 10 years ago that works well in the cooler months for shad,it's got a pond pump in it that pumps up into a filter bucket and a couple of aireation pumps. I've hauled many many dozen herring in it for long range trips .i could send you a picture of it if you'd like,. Sam
HEY,,WATCH THAT YELLOW ROD
hooksetter,
There is a 600 gallon round tank on craigslist right now for I think around $200. Set that you at your house and keep all the bait you want for as long as you want. lol. I have a 275 gallon set up in the basement for shiners. It is one of the totes. Thought about trying shad, but I dont think the corners are round enough.
I'm making a barrel at my house to hold shad or trout during the winter months. Plus I'm looking for a good tank for my boat. The one I have now will hold shiners/trout good. But just looking to upgrade to one that will hold shad/herring for a couple of days.
So I don't need to try to keep them, just start fishing with you.
Still gonna be a little while before I make the tank. Should have it done to be ready for the fall as I don't fish for stripers much during the summer time. Anytime you wanna fish with me your more than welcome to join me.
