I haven't been to either lake in a long time due to illness but no one else have chimed in so I will put in my two cents. In past summers I have had good luck at Shearon Harriss by cruising along in deep water and looking for the thermocline on the depth finder. Usually its easy to see (lots of life above dead water below) and its usually in the 15 foot range. Once I know the depth of the thermocline I head toward the nearest main lake point and if the thermocline is 15 feet I go toward the point until I find 15 feet of water. I ease along the 15 foot depth contour until I see brush and or fish throw out a marker and drop a minnow on a number 4 gold hook 12" below a number 3 split shot and stroll (slow troll/drift) until I get bit. My experience is that it may take a few minutes to get that first bite but once you get bit others follow. If I don't get bit in 10 minutes I pull my marker and ease around some more. Not every point has fish you may have to try several before you find fish. I like long sloping underwater points where the 15 foot contour is several hundred feet off shore. Don't do as well on steep point or flats with no slope at all. long gently sloping points are my favs. If you are fishing deeper than the thermocline you are in dead water and are wasting your time. Good luck.
