What you heard is correct, plus a LOT of other rules & regulations they are pretty strict about. Haven't fished it myself but know some people that do. Not heard much about the crappie but it is an exceptional bass lake. Must be pretty popular, you have to get there early & get in line, only 100 boats are allowed at a time.

I have heard of a few nice catches of crappie. Just got to know where to find them. I sure you love to fish it at night and drop out some lights!!!

Fished it quite a few times last year. I use a Coleman Crawdad with two trolling motors and launch at the Southwest park on
the North end of the lake. The bass fishing is great. Never caught less than 12 on any trip, up to 5lbs. Tried the crappie and caught a few dinks but no slabs. I've read reports of people catching 14" slabs though.

I'm waiting on April 1. It should be great fishing at that time.
    Just one more bite...please.

I forget to add that it only cost $6 to launch a trolling motor only boat. Nice lake. Lots of structure.

For what its worth, I wouldn't cry too much over the fees. The employees there are paid by the county. In case you haven't heard, the state and counties are in big financial trouble. Your fees help pay for the upkeep and salaries of the lake else the county could close it. I personally want to see it stay open for fishing.

There is a lot of structure in that lake and the main channel is 100' deep. It is an outstanding bass lake and I have caught crappie there too. The bass fishermen are in heaven with many gettingat least a 5 pounder + on every outing. They have also stocked hybrids in there. My complaint about the place is like all over city reservoirs. The hours they are open doesn't always coincide with the best time to fish. I LOVE night fishing because there is no heat and minimal to no boat traffic. I like the fact that it is limited to 100 boats.
    Gotta go, fish on!
