Thread: Need help with livewell pump removal

dang wish I could help, on mine I had to take the nylon keeper off the back of the boat, where the intake is, that loosened it all up then I just took the hose clamps off, tracker boat,

Pole Bender, hope am understanding your question correctly. If you are talking about detaching the pump / cartridge from the base many of them snap out by turning counter clockwise a quarter to half a turn. You can then lift them out and replace the pump and reattach the new one by reversing the procedure. Rule and Mayfair pumps have many models that work this way. Good luck.

I don't think I did a good job explaining this, the flow rite is a valve which allows you to control the livewell such as empty, AUTO, or RECIRC and is controlled by a control at the drivers seat. On my boat the livewell pump is attached to the center of this valve in the bilge area. I think I am going to have to remove the whole thing to look at it and determine how it comes apart. It has some black stuff which looks like puddy over the connection and either it is holding the two together or is just to seal the connection. They could be attached by pushing the two together, or the pump screws into the valve, or there could even be screws holding the two together. I just figured someone on here had replaced a pump before with a valve and could tell me how they attach.

THEY SCREW IN THEY CAN BE VERY HARD TO BREAK FREE. PUT IT IN A VICE AND APPLY GRADUAL PRESSURE. I have had a time with my pumps my fishing buddy now calls me a professional livewell mechanic. lol

Some of the pumps just the motor can be replaced and you can use the original housing and just pop in a new motor without disconnecting your flow-rite from it. Some of the new motor pumps will not fit in the old cartridges.

Mine is threaded. If you replace, you may need to cut to fit
