Thread: Still in spawning mode

needed to go to LSL to check out my pontoon and make sure cover was secure so of course had to do a little dock dipping. Called neighbor Ben and he came down to join in the fun. couple of weeks ago the dinks were out in force around dock and were in their Tuxedo's so wanted to see if they still were.

KABOOM happened from first dip as they sure were still there shallow and yes all dressed up. Don't know how many get to be at a place where you literally ketchm on just about every drop but it sure is a load of fun. Guess I'm still that lil boy who started ketchn small sunfish at January Wabash park and still get a thrill out of it. Ben struggled for a long time till I had him change his jig to something smaller and then he too joined in the crappie whacking. Took about a dozen dinks before you got a keeper but we kept going along different docks and ended up with 10 nice ones for Ben to clean.

Then buddy Turkey Tom called from smaller lake and said he had caught a mess and where they were so I was heading home so I could stop there. I first hit the dam area and caught some chunky green sunfish and BG but didn't find the redear so moved to another place. There I cast where Tom said they were and sure enough I picked up 3 nice keepers there, black male crappie but who were not beat up like many are if they are spawning and they were out a ways. So still not sure if that lake is done or not.

Oh well. 6 filets is fine for a meal for wife and I so brought those home. BTW if you take those bodies, put them in a container that the flies can get too and away from the critters they will lay eggs and maggots will turn those bodies into liquid in a couple of weeks. Perfect hi value fertilizer for your garden.

I have pics but will take a bit to post them. my app on android wouldn't load, just kept spinning so I foolishly deleted it not knowing that for some stupid reason playstore doesn't have that app up anymore. Called Slab and he is working on it but will have to figure out how to load pics onto computer. something I havn't done except to FB.
