Default Little gobbling so scouting for my sons crew

They will be there last weekend so wanted to check out their usual spots. Check. So went back and made breakfast for my buddy, duck eggs and sausage with some of my daughters schwabbery jam. So pod.

Then time to get fishing. Had stopped up at usual spots and talking to folks and watching not much was happening so decided to go to different lake. Last week we tore them up there but thus week? NADA.

went back to usual banks and cold front drove them off and nothing farther out. It was COLD in morning and NM I w wind was howling. No one was ketchn much so went to honeyhole. As usual KABOOM HAPPENED! Had my 10 foot Bnm and ul reel and picked them out of vegetation but more out in more open water. 32nd jigs better than 16th, color didn't matter when they are dancing.

Picked dozen there nice ones but my buddy struggled trying to pitch or pick in the stuff without tangling so decided to hit open shore where he us more comfortable.

He joined in ketchn and I finished my limit. Another good day in tough wind blown conditions.

Still early and my cabin partner showed up to fish so we decided to go back so I could cut grass and practice his cleaning which he was still learning how it's done correctly.

Since I was going to give him all the fish he would b eating these.

Did fair job but as I told him it just takes practice on lots o fish.

Even tho we planned on going back to let him try to ketch more instead I pulled out marinated backstrap and started dinner. My partner showed up with 8 and we had terrific dinner and started telling stories about our cabin and local folks and community. Pleasant Evening.

Next morning storms with lightning roared in so washed out turkey hunting and fishing so we headed home. Ben appreciated big sack o filets and appreciates our cabin and area which is great.Name: 20240422_163829.jpg

You're right about the wind, it's still kind of breezy down here. But it will get better? Sounds lime a fun time. Telling old tales, I'm still not good at cleaning em. Of course I have to catch them first....

well you actually have to get out of the car and go into the woods to actually get one Bill. Been mostly listening and not hearing them like I used to where they were within a reasonable distance from road and get you excited. what little gobbling is usually faint and mostly on private ground not where I can hunt.

But it's long season and I have a couple of spots I will actually hunt on as my friends are killing them and razzing me as I was once hard at it chasing them over hill and dale. I simply send them pictures of all the crappie I am ketch even with lousy conditions.
