Default What’s your go to jigs

So this time of year on the ville, I can no longer catch very many on jigs. But they will hit minnows all day long dead or alive. I use tube jigs of all different colors. As well as maribu hand tied jigs. Of those of you who swear by jigs during the summer. What’s your go to jig

After changing colors several times the one fish are biting on. Go to is usually blue head monkey milk body. Followed up by orange head blue ice.

Hard to know what to offer for advice. Heavier, bigger, blades….. I assure you that they bite jigs during Summer.
Maybe they will bite this one……

We have been using Brushpile Jigs for several years now.
They make several different styles. In the summer months we down size to the smaller profile Jigs they make.

I prefer the ones I make. Typically maribou with a minnow head and 0 or 00 blade on them. Chart. head/purple body/chart. tail w/ a little flashabou has caught them anywhere I've fished.

I'm a 1/16 oz jig person myself. I like tube jigs or Bobby G anything in Bluegrass color. For me though, scent is the difference. Minnow body oil leaves a trail in the water and fish find it fast. Color can make a difference but the oil scent in the water is key. The big reason I like chenille is the it makes a great scent pad for Slab Sauce and such.

I usually fish 1/16 oz jigs as well but I have been downsizing a lot in summer lately. I try to go for that smaller profile. Cut off some of that plastic bait, leave tails shorter on hand ties, etc... Also very important as Grumpy said above scent matters!

Since December I have been only using Just Another Crappie Bait Company's heavy hooks in 1/16 & 1/8 in pink, pearl, orange and green - go to is pearl white. I also use their bodies that last forever! Colors vary, but my go to is June bug and orange. He also sells wigglers and wiggler heads, I have been throwing these when the fish are moving on my jig, but not taking it and have had good success with his standard head 1/8" and green as well as this clear with metal flake color. Since I started using his brand, I have used a lot less bodies and increased my catch.

Spider rigging I use a #2 1/16oz green head with a gold hook and a black and chartreuse body. These heads are generic heads and the tails are generic Walmart tails for $1.25 for 50.
