    Default wapp

Decided to try wapp for first time in about 2 years, since nobody fishes there anymore it seems. Got off work at 7am picked up the boat and the gf and we headed out. Started fishing around 9am and fished until 145pm came home with 24 keepers. spider rig minnows and jigs. Caught prob 30 fish all day so the keeps to dinks ratio was much higher than normal. No big fish everything was 9.5-10.5' fish and 3/4 was females with mushy eggs in them. Gf caught a 10lb channel cat and in my hurry to leave i forgot the net so i had to take the pole and land it for her. We released the cat. Bait was everywhere, had shad popping all around me all day. When i'd see them popping i'd just go over towards them and it was pretty well guaranteed hookup, sometimes multiple hookups. Shad were huge, almost as big as the crappie but didn't seem to matter to the crappie bc they were under them thick. Headed back for a camping trip the first of June so plan on fishing 3 days down there. I will report back then

there was a few other boats out, talked to two other boats spider rigging they both said they weren't doing very good. one guy had 2 another had 4. after about 2 hrs in the same area we had it all to ourselves and was catching them better than when we started so no really sure why ppl weren't having similar results. guess that's fishing though.
Thanks ripnlips thanked you for this post

Thank you for the report. I haven't made it over to Wapp this year. It really has a lot of small fish in it the last few years.

I was there three weeks ago and the fish where in the brush around the bank since the Lake level had it all in the water. You could catch a lot of fish but you had to find the right spot. They were on only certain banks and spots. Combat fishing though....had to drop it in on them and haul them right back out to keep from getting tangled. Lots of little fish...if they can find enough to eat in another year to three should be some good fishing coming. Always a lot of little fish at Wapp but I caught fish I figure where from maybe three year classes. So that means several good spawns back to back.

just never go below 20 miles an hour

Naw just kidding. There was a botanical lotion I use to use but can't find it anymore. It had a plant derivative which you just can't find anymore.

There are probably other botanicals lotions out there that work but I usually just use deet products....I spray them on a paper towel and wipe my neck and face. I even sometimes stick the towel like in my hat band . DON't get these sprays on your electronics and stuff they can damage the screens...watch spraying them in the wind.

Now days if I am going into tick and chigger infested places I use clothes treatment with permethrin...this stuff...usually when I have them on I notice seems I am not bothered by much other stuff
