    Default Smithville April 14th

Started after noon and found them staging on flats just outside of some of the coves in about 15 ft of water. With the wind blowing like it was I decided to try out my new spider rig setup. Ended up catching 13 with my biggest being 14 inches going back and fourth across a small flat up near twin coves. Electric chicken tipped with minnows, and all chartreuse tipped with minnow worked the best. Found water Temps of 62 and 63 and 65 in some small feeder arms but totally void of fish or should I say I didn't catch any in them. Now I'm in love with this spider rigging stuff. I used two different size jig heads and they almost always hit the 1/16 Oz size more than any other. I hope this helps someone out.

Good job, man! You must have your new rig? Catches fish so it must be working right!

Dave's living vicariously through you. Heck, he's still having to type with one arm!!

Finally a positive report from Smithville and rigging at that! Now I can save some gas money and fish close to home. Watch out Keeferfish, there's another spider on the pond!

I've been bringing my spider rig rods along with me the last couple trips but haven't got hem broken out yet. What sort of terminal rig you using catchem32? I've used the double minnow rigs I got at Wal-Mart with wire T's, but was also going to try a double jig head rig with a 1/4 oz jig on the bottom and another lighter one a foot or so up from that tied into a loop.

Size: 3.4 KB this is the set up I used but I'm a begginer at this so it's pretty basic.

OK-thanks. I saw that set-up as well. I was going to tie some up ahead of time and put them on my rubber leader holder tube. Organization is crucial when rigging!
